Authentic uses of technology article

After reading the article and examples presented, I must conclude that at the first grade level, we are going to be helping our students become acquainted with the use of technology as an aid to research, etc. rather than having students create their own projects because they do not have keyboarding skills. In that light, I demonstrate my research efforts to answer questions via google, etc. I also have used and created powerpoint demonstrations utilizing the Epson projector to enhance the presentations. We have begun editing their creative writing stories directly on the computer with students giving input, sitting right with the teacher and seeing their published results immediately.

I am also currently developing an idea about having students work with a background and create a weather report that they can do with a voice-over format as we study weather forms and patterns in science. I am excited to see how this turns out.
